As chief administrative officer, Benham coordinates all things non-engineering related for the 30-year-old multi-disciplined engineering firm in Abilene. With additional offices in Lubbock and Granbury, Benham must assure the IT and telecom needs are met throughout the organization, and that can be a challenging order. After having worked directly with Cactus Technology Solutions’ Amy Milam and Jake Godwin in a previous capacity, Big Country Electrical Coop’s Linda Key knew first-hand the depth of knowledge and insight Jake and Amy could bring to the table when identifying a new phone system for the member COOP.
Linda and her IT team saw The Momentum phone system presented at several conferences, liked the offerings, and felt it was time for a demonstration for her organization, so she called and secured an appointment. Amy, Jake. Momentum’s Kerri Lytle coupled with Momentum’s sales engineer, Russel Smith, came to the meeting and presented the complete system to Linda and her team the many features and benefits the structure could bring to Big Country Electrical Coop.
“Having worked with Jake and Amy before, I was very comfortable – and confident – their recommendation for a new phone system would make sure the needs of Big Country Electrical Coop were in the forefront to assure a sound offering,” explained Linda.
As a non-profit, Linda’s role as vice-president of office services is critical to assure any expenditures for infrastructure not only meets the needs of the organization but will also reassure the member-owned organization has done their due diligence.
Following a mid-December of 2019 install, Big Country Electrical Coop has been very pleased. And, in light of the recent COVID-19 developments requiring Linda and her colleagues work from home, the Momentum phone system has far exceeded expectations.
“We were familiar with the extensive features/benefits of the phone system; however, we have been forced to learn and utilize features we may not have needed had we still be working on-site. The system’s screen share and face-to-face features have been tremendous,” says Linda.
The Momentum phone solution has been a unified answer for the organization as they continue to meet the needs of their membership. Calls are answered either as a soft phone via the computer, or an application installed on an employee’s phone. The application assures the call is made via the COOP’s main number and doesn’t have to utilize the recipient’s personal cell phone number.
“We have been fortunate to assist our members without any digression during this unique time of circumstances. I’m pretty confident this phone solution has been the key to our organization’s efficiency as we stand right now,” boast Linda.
Linda’s team is impressive. Her IT administrator, and IT technician, have taken the brunt of the hard work in Linda’s opinion. “I couldn’t have done this without them, and I’m grateful to have them as part of my team,” says Linda.
When asked in closing how Linda would describe Cactus Technology Solutions, her answer is concise and adamant, “Amy and Jake can bring dependability, trust and innovation to any organization’s challenges; they certainly did for Big Country Electrical Coop,” states Linda.
Before Cactus, we had problems switching mobile phones between carriers, paying out, and early termination fees. Becky introduced us to a new service that saved us about a quarter of our bill a month and made it easy to switch our users between carriers without any penalties. Anytime we need a technology solution, we always get with Cactus to see what they will recommend first. The team at Cactus is very upbeat, helpful, and hands-on.
Cactus has a team approach. When we had service issues or cable cuts, their responsiveness has been incredible. When we had just AT&T, there wasn’t a face to the vendor, they change who your rep is all the time, and when we got with Cactus, there was a face and a name to our service. Cactus can look at different solutions and have the tools to find what works best for our business. We did upgrade our bandwidth in Abilene, and Cactus managed that transition and was very good at handling the process step by step and getting it done efficiently. They’re just your complete one-stop-shop for all of your technology needs- voice and data. They’re the kind of company you really enjoy doing business with.
Before Cactus, we would have a new “Account Manager” from AT&T every other year. The new person never knew what projects were in the works, or what deliverables we had been promised. Every time we had to re-negotiate everything. We had stacks of bills from various vendors, under contracts agreed to by various internal departments. It was a mess. I can see light at the end of the tunnel! It finally feels like we’re getting a handle on our telecom bills.
